A Dino game.
---
Open world -ish... i probably just mean non-linear. Explore as you will! Travel requires subway tokens, which you can buy at delis.
garbage trucks, garbage bags. all the people throwing garbage out their windows. going to the dump.
That's right, you start in a dojo, proper karate kid style.
Trade names for growth. ( kick ass and take names, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Beat Em Up )
sell food and subway tokens
Goons kidnap your girlfriend.
We later find it was ordered by Mr. Z, to fulfill the propheZy.
But they got the wrong girl! Until they DIDN'T!
So we go about the city to build a team strong enough to take down Mr. Z, who is practiZing karate at the top of the Zempire Ztate building.
There's a rough map of this in my games journal (notebook1, pg 54)
brownstones
bars, coffee shop, laundry place, restaurant
alleys
subway stations

Pig Dude's Thunderdome, to be precise.
A battle arena, starting beneath in the subway.
elevator rises until you reach the arena/stadium, where eventually you fight pig dude.
Defeat him, and he'll join your party.
Full of goons and guyses loyal to tony.
Tony's at the back, making the pizza, pasta, etcetera. Defeat him and he'll join you.
An ongoing list of games I'm accumulating requirements and content for.
For now i'm hoping to get many (all) of these done in 2023. I'm not sure how crazy or realistic that is - depends wildly on scope, I suppose.
For now, it's a nice way to compare ideas - for each of these, I want to answer parallel questions. Having multiple buckets can help brainstorm (vs working on just one game).
I'm also interested in strategies for approaching each of these. For example, Beat Em Up City might be built completely on top of Super Elevator Level, as both are beat em ups, but the SEL scope is much smaller. So there's some sorting that could make approaching these easier.

A beatemup game idea I've been kicking around.
Elevator levels are one of my favorite things in games.
Pretty raw for now.

Something in the works!
we build character prototypes and then generate random stories as people walk across Beat Em Up City
