From star wars. A flippy piece of metal that sticks to a droid. Light as a feather.

as a game mechanics

throw a bolt on someone, creates a drone

drones follow you, mimicking your movements

some are faster, some are slower

some have more or less health

the introduction

you see bolts on robots that you can take off

before you can ever put any on

defense before offense

some enemies can throw a bolt on you!

then you would follow what they do

some exert more control than others

what if you threw an enemy into yourself?

(grabs from afar)

you only have a few bolts, so you have to switch them out

3? 5?

> 1000?

this would be epic and might be really fun

some are stronger after you take the bolt off

or, the longer you keep the bolt on

because their frustration is building

team attack? some, but not most

remote controling is like a jedi mind trick

it's literally remote control

Game Mechanics build up into game systems.

Mechanics take plenty of fine-tuning, so feedback loops and simple UIs/visualizations to make them easy to play-test are critical.

Some mechanics to dive into:

  • Platformer Jumping
  • Platformer Wall-Jumping
  • Beat Em Up Combat
  • Punching
  • Throwing
  • Items

A restraining bolt idea, as a little tophat you toss on things.

Could maybe borrow UX from super mario odyssey, and a boomerang (game mechanic)?
