One thing that is attractive about mind-gardens, zettlekasten, and related tools: to an extent, they self-organize.
I've noticed over years of writing and constantly changing my process that my writing is just, well, who knows where. Some is in org, some in txt files in various dropbox folders. I'm pretty sure I could sum it up with 3 or 4 top-level directories...
A problem I have when I want to write something is, where do I put it. This is frustrating because that question is just a waste! I should just write in google docs or word like everyone else - writing was easier before I learned to code, before I got into org-mode.
I'm pretty committed to turning that battle around - org-roam and the mind garden dive I've been on for almost a year is my latest effort. Hopefully it's not just the latest hotness!
Creating per-tag files that get updated automatically when more tags are introduced would be fun.
Could also suggest/auto-add tags when certain words/topics are mentioned, or when certain files are linked to.
e.g. this word could maybe link to this other doc, b/c a similar phrase did the
same over 'here'
It'd also be cool to provide another link-type, one that is completely transparent - just 'soft' links that are based on suggestions/text analysis.
My writing is scattered! I feel like I've created things, but over the years, it's difficult to see anything when looking back. What have I done? What ideas are in progress? What is there to build on?
I'm hoping this garden can be self-organizing, and I can start to pull all my old stuff into here.
Things to capture in here:
What doesn't go in the garden?
