If you're having trouble getting something done, tell someone you're going to do it by a certain day. Then, when the fear of embarrassment and disappointment sets in, you'll find you produce something!
I find it's helpful to promise to show them _something_. Doesn't much matter what it is - but if you want something more polished, pick someone that you project high expectations on. Whatever forces you to raise the bar.
Try to find someone who will check-in with you about it on or before the deadline.
Telling multiple people can help increase the odds that at least one person will follow up about it.
